[ChatAction] Invitation to a Deep Dive around the subjects of Values, Past Lives and Peace

Values, Past Lives and Peace Presented by Kathryn Alexander, MA for the
Chat Action Group on Saturday, January 23 at 8 am PST in the Chat Action
Zoom Room.

You are invited to explore how values, ethics, past lives and peace can be
interconnected; provoking some deep thinking on how we can manage our own
actions to achieve the ends we desire.

It is not *that* unusual to hear references to people living past lives or
to hear people discussing future existences, but there is little
exploration of just what that might mean for everyday living if the concept
is true.

Most people agree that ethics are tied to values, but exactly how is a bit
unclear. Jane Jacob spent 12 years researching to understand why some
actions are seen as good and others bad and she made a profound discovery,
certain values form systems or ‘syndromes’ as she called them. This
understanding has incredible impact as it creates clarity on why we
sometimes act from our values and yet the results do not meet our
expectations. It also helps us to understand how and why we may choose
certain values in specific situations, allowing us to be more likely to get
the results we want.

Complex living systems like human beings form complex patterns of
relationship that often seem daunting and difficult to decipher. As we
gather together we create something called culture that becomes its own
force, both limiting and supporting our behavior.

Kathryn will use several models she has developed to shed some light on
these complex issues and then consider how striving for peace might be
impacted by the ways these different concepts interact.

Participants will take a short quiz that will bring some of these concepts
home.
